daddyrx replied: "The excipients and amounts vary greatly and depend on the manufacturer. Some include: carnauba wax, corn starch, hypromellose, powdered cellulose and triacetin."

Isn't there a way to get rid of pimples combining asprin and something else? I saw a special about how people get rid of pimples and all that stuff and I don't remember what it was to get rid of pimples fast. I remember them saying to mix asprin and another ingredient and apply it to your face and it should be gone 3 hours later. Does anyone remember the other ingredient? Appreciate it!

iluvpink5273 replied: "well ive heard of crushing up asprin and adding a little bit of water to make a paste to put on the pimples."

breathexinxdeep replied: "I have never heard of the aspirin method but what I do is get the pasty white toothpaste (no gel) and apply a generous amount on any pimple I need to get rid of right before I go to sleep. They are either gone or extremely tiny the next morning."

Acetyisalicylic acid is the active ingredient in asprin.? It took 35.17mL of 0.5065 M sodium hydroxide to react complete with 3.210g of acetylsalicylic acid. Acetylsalicylic acid has one acidic hydrogen. What is the molar mass of acetylsalicylic acid.

rb42redsuns replied: "Volume times Molarity = moles. You have the moles of NaOH it took to react with your sample. You have the mass of the sample. Mass divided by moles is molar mass."

Howard V replied: "moles NaOH = M NaOH x L NaOH = (0.5065)(0.03517) = 0.0178 moles NaOH moles NaOH = moles aspirin since aspirin has one acidic hydrogen. moles aspirin = 0.01781 = g aspirin / MM MM = (g aspirin / moles aspirin) = (3.210 / 0.01781) = 180.2"

Will Tylenol work the same as Asprin in a face mask? I've heard a lot of people mentioning crushing up asprin in a cup then add water and apply it to your zit/pimple. My mom said we only had Tylenol. Will that work? Just curious :D Ohhh, & Explain how to make the mask again, any other ingredients? Thanks. Sorry I mean... ASPIRIN.

Nic replied: "tylenol and aspirin are 2 different things, idk if it'll work"

Lucia G replied: "If it works with aspirin than no. Tylenol has different active ingredients."

Acetylsalicylic acid, C9H8O4, is the active ingredient in asprin. What is the mass in grams of .582 mol of ace? acetylsalicylic acid?

Pushpa Padmanabhan replied: "Calculate the molar mass of C9H8O4. Mulitply the molar mass with the moles to get grams."

Techno replied: "Moles = Mass / mol.mass. Mass = moles x mol.mass. C9H8O4 mol.mass = (C:12 x 9) + (H:1 x 8) + (O:16 x 4). = 108 + 8 + 64 = 180g/mol. 0.582mol x 180g/mol = 104.8g mass of ace."

what's the difference between asprin & paracetamol? if asprin and paracetamol contain same active ingredients why there are 2brand names for same formulation?

Shirley M replied: "Paracetamol is acetaminophen - the same as tylenol. Aspirin (salycylic acid) has the same affects but is a bit harsher on the stomach."

Bananaman replied: "They are different. Those are generic names, named for the public. Aspirin, salicyclic acid can cause gastic or cause it to worsen. Too much paracetamol can cause permanent liver damage. (Personally, I would prefer to avoid it totally.)"

devyani b replied: "Aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid(acetosal) is a drug in the family of salicylates, often used as an analgesic (to relieve minor aches and pains), antipyretic (to reduce fever), and as an anti-inflammatory. Paracetamol or acetaminophen (USAN), is the active metabolite of phenacetin, a so called coal tar analgesic. It is an effective substitute for aspirin, due to its analgesic and antipyretic properties. However, unlike aspirin, it is not a very effective anti-inflammatory agent. It is well tolerated, lacks many of the side effects of aspirin, and is available over-the-counter, so it is commonly used for the relief of fever, headaches, and other minor aches and pains. Paracetamol is also useful in the management of more severe pain, where it allows lower dosages of additional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or opioid analgesics to be used, thereby minimizing overall side-effects. It is a major ingredient in numerous cold and flu medications, including Tylenol and Panadol, among others. It is considered safe for human use at recommended doses, however, acute overdose can cause fatal hepatic damage, and the number of accidental self-poisonings and suicides has grown in recent years."

alkemizt_silva replied: "Both drugs are classified under NSAIDs (Non-steriodal Anti-inflammatory Drugs). Both drugs have similar mechanism of action which is the inhibition of prostaglandins. However paractemol has a weak ani-inflammatory activity as compared to aspirin. It is the active form of the pro drug phenacetin. Although paracetamol can cause liver toxicity according to some studies. Aspirin aside from being used as an anti-pyretic and inflammatory it is also used to prevent thombosis. It is used in patients with high percentage of getting a myocardial infarction (heart attack) because it can dissolve clots that may arise from an artery or vein which is clogged and later on developed a small puncture in the lining of the vascular lining. Aspirin should be taken with food becasue it may cause ulcerations in the stomach."

annne replied: "ask yo pharmacist!"

Differences among Tylenol, asprin and ibprofen? I don't mean the ingredients, or chemical makeup. I mean which one should I take for which symptoms??

lilly45 replied: "Acetaminophen Acetaminophen is a non-aspirin pain reliever. It is quite well-tolerated by the stomach, so it's unlikely to cause nausea or abdominal pain. The most well-known brand of acetaminophen is Tylenol. Acetaminophen can be used for the pain of insect stings, burns, abrasions, as well as bruises, and sprains. Acetaminophen has NO anti-inflammatory activity. It has no anticoagulant effect. It does not cause ulcers or irritate the stomach. Aspirin Aspirin is a pain reliever with anti-inflammatory effects. Even at low doses, it reduces the tendency of the blood to clot, and is therefore useful to prevent heart attacks and strokes. The anti-clotting effect means aspirin is best avoided in injuries that tend to bleed. Its anti-inflammatory effects make it useful for tendonitis. The most well-known brand is Bayer. Aspirin can irritate the stomach. The pills should be taken with food (if possible) to prevent stomach upset. Aspirin should be avoided by persons with active ulcers, and by those on anticoagulants (blood thinners). Aspirin decreases the tendency of the blood to clot for many days after a single dose. Ibuprofen Ibuprofen is a pain reliever with anti-inflammatory effects. It is not aspirin, but some persons with sensitivity or allergy to aspirin may have the same reaction to ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is especially helpful for the pain of bruises and sprains. Its anti-inflammatory effects make it useful for tendonitis. Common brands include Advil, Motrin IB, and Nuprin. Ibuprofen is usually well-tolerated by the stomach. The pills should be taken with food (if possible) to prevent stomach upset. Ibuprofen does have some aspirin-like effects on the stomach, so persons with active ulcers or sensitive stomachs should avoid ibuprofen. There is a mild anticoagulant (blood thinning) effect lasting a few hours. Medicines of this class can reduce the effectiveness of some blood pressure medications and diuretics (water pills). If you're being treated for other health problems, ask your doctor how often (or if) you can take ibuprofen. "

SirRob replied: "Asprin and ibuprofen are in the NSAID antiinflammatory category and are used for pain, fever and inflammation/swelling. They can upset your stomach. Tylenol/acetominophen is good for pain and fever but has no anti-inflammatory properties. It, thus, does not cause stomach upset."

SusanS replied: "All three have the ability to reduce fever. Aspirin and ibuprofen have anti-inflammatory properties as well as reducing fever. Tylenol is easiest on the stomach. They can be used pretty much interchangeably for fever, pain."

Sabrina P replied: "Tylenol is for headaches, muscle aches, fever, backaches, toothaches, arthritis, and colds. Ibuprofen is for inflammation. Aspirin is for reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation."

my dog is on vetrin for arthritis? the main ingredient is asprin. Can I just give my dog 1/4 asprin a day instead?

isis replied: "i have one on METACAM. i'd check with your vet. there may be something else besides the aspirin that your dog needs."

bonniermills replied: "My Vet had us give one baby asprin when needed for pain to our 14 year old dog. Talk to your vet to check, it will depend on the size of your dog."

jules77 replied: "Dont give your dog vetrin long term, and never asprin, it can cause internal bleeding. Try Cosequin or Salmon oil, far more natural and non invasive."

meme replied: "i used to give my dog glucosamine,i would buy the capsules and mix the oil in with food.good for joints and not harmful"

Tori-Belle replied: "I gave my senior dobe cortaflex, it worked very well for him. Really gave Beau a new lease of life. Maybe worth a try."

Help with a chemistry word problem? An extra strength aspirin tablet contains .500 gram of the active ingredient. Asprin strength used to be measured in grains. If 1 grain= 60 mg, how many grains of the active ingredient are in 1 tablet?

Mr Smith Goes To Washington replied: "500/60"

darkskies4evr replied: "There are 1000mg in 1 gram. Converting your given grams to mg: 0.500g = 500mg Divide the 500mg by 60 mg/grain to get the answer."

Are Advil and an Aspirin the same? I read that the ingredient in Asprin, with a little water will get rid of my pimple. Is that same ingredient in Advil? Sorry forgot to add this, the salicylic acid is the ingredient i was talking about

bmwalopez01 replied: "No, Advil contains ibuprofen and Aspirin is Salicylic acid. Different type of medicine and chemical composition."

michelle c replied: "Aspirin is actually acetylsalicylic acid, which is slightly different. I have heard of people crushing up aspirin tablets into a paste and using it on pimples, but you can go to any drugstore and get inexpensive salicylic acid cream to spot-treat (and this is the much better option). Also, Advil contains ibuprofen not acetylsalicylic acid."
