Question about anesthetic? First let me start by saying I am 18 weeks pregnant. I have been having horrible headaches so I went to my family dr and she ran test and found that the artery in my head leading to my brain and eyes is inflamed. She needs to do a biopsy on it but I would of course need to have anesthetic. My question is, is this safe to take if you are pregnant? I also need my wisdom teeth out and figure if they do one maybe they can do both at one time. Not likely but wishful thinking on my part. Does anybody have any idea if I can use anesthetic while pregnant or do I have to suffer these horrible headaches. Also I would have to take prednisone, can you take this while pregnant?

mom replied: "Tell your family doctor that you are pregnant and she will know what you can and cannot do if you are pregnant and the wisdom teeth thing I would just wait until you have the baby"

Amanda-Its a BOY!!! dec 10th replied: "im really not sure about your questions, but i wanted to say im so sorry! that sucks! i feel for ya. but, i wouldnt think that your doctor would do it if they thought it would be harmful to the baby. i also need my wisdom teeth out but they wont do it until after the baby comes, so i dont know. you shoudl def. ask your doctor to make sure, i mean this is your body and your baby so feel free to ask!! congrats on the baby"

Pippin replied: "This is something to discuss with your doctor. But realistically, (despite the hysterical 'only tylenol is safe!!!' knee jerk reactions of many posters here) most medications and procedures are acceptable if you really need them. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of the procedure, (both the surgery itself and any necessary medications/anesthetics) and make the decision that works for you."

I'm sick still. What's wrong with me? I've been sick for a while with a sore throat, cough that produces phlegm, congestion, headache, fever, fatigue, nausea, and pain in my chest when I breathe deeply. I went to the doctor again on Tuesday and he thought I had mono. My lab results from the mono test came back negative. I had to get a Rocephin shot on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but they haven't helped me at all...in fact, my leg has been tingly and numb feeling since my last shot. Does anyone know what's wrong with me? I've tried antibiotics, prednisone and cough syrup. I can't miss more work. I've been sick for quite a while now. I've been sick like this for around 3 weeks and have had 2 rounds of antibiotics, 2 rounds of prednisone, and the Rocephin shots. Also, I teach third grade and was wondering when you think it would be ok to return to school. I spent most of last week in the doctor's office. I was told not to go in if I had any hint of a fever, but yesterday my fever was actually down. I went to the doctor Monday and he said that it was allergic bronchitis, but he would call it pneumonia if the nurse had recorded any fever (she hadn't even taken my temperature). I'm not fully pleased with this diagnosis because of that. He didn't address the tingling in my leg at all, even though I mentioned it multiple times. What do you think is wrong with me? What is the next step I should take? I went back to school tuesday and by the end of the day I wasn't even sure if I'd make it home. I threw up at school and they told me to get some Tums or Pepto from the nurse and go back to class. I even had a slight fever, but they said they don't send teachers home unless the fever is over 100.3. Should I return today? i forgot to add that i've lost my appetite. also when there is any pressure to my stomach, I feel like I'm going to throw up. I can't sit up or have my pants buttoned without feeling sick to my stomach.

sslvl4goku replied: "Well to be perfectly honest if your doctor can't find out whats wrong with you, then he must have bought his degree. Try going to another doctor to get another opinion. There are herbal remedies that can help you. Try buying a humidifier and in the same area that the humidifiers at, there are oils and essenses that you can put in the humidifier. The one i recommend is any oil with Eucalyptis. Eucalyptis is pretty good in curing bronchitis and reduce asthma effects. I tell you from personal experiences having asthma and bronchitis. And if that does not help ask a hispanic neighbor or friend for other herbal remedies. Believe me they help..."

Anyway, if you don't' feel better and feel this doc isn't helping, get a second opinion. It doesn't' sound like Mono, it sounds like Bronchitis or pneumonia."

Daniel-Kenneth U replied: "Your doctor is not able to help you, the ant-biotics will not cure you. You have fungus which is excreating mycotoxinss, fungus poison, and your immune system cannot handle it. Anti-biotics are manufactured by using fungus. Do you want to try to cure fungus with fungus? Your problem starts in the gut, it is in disharmony with itself and needs to be restored to good health. Start by eliminating all sugar from your diet and that includes corn syrup, breads, pasta, potato; check the food lables. Replace the bad flora in the gut with organic yogurt and use plenty of PRO-BIOTIC supplements. Use anti-fungus foods in your diet. Go to, and click on FAQ's to get the free diet plan. Get a pre ion for Nystatin or Diflucan to kill the fungus. Take a long hot soaking baths with Epsom salts and hydrogen peroxide to kill of the fungus on the skin. Use Vick's VapoRub on the chest and in the nose. Make sure there isn't any mold growing in you house on your pillow."

Mr. Black replied: "This sounds like a really tough issue. I would have my doubts that it is just a flu or a simple infection. I would start looking for further testing with your organs. I'm not sure where to start here either, but you could have something very serious or misdiagnosed chronic condition. I came across a great health resource today that you might try searching through for similar symptoms that someone else has or is suffering. If the fever comes back any stronger I would look for another doctor. Try the site for some possible answers. Good luck I feel for you and know what long term health issues can be like!"

Another Voice replied: "See another doctor. You probably should have had a chest x-ray when you first reported chest pain. It is possible to have pneumonia without having a fever - it has happened to me - so please do see another doctor. You probably should get more rest at home in order to get well, so don't worry too much about missing work. They do have substitute teachers. Also - there is such a thing as viral pneumonia, and antibiotics do not do any good against this. They might actually do some harm because they attack antibodies which help keep us well. Prednisone can inhibit the immune system and probably should not be taken at all if you have pneumonia. Your body has to fight viral pneumonia all by itself, and for that you need to drink plenty of liquids, eat healthy and REST."

Mary E replied: "Did the dr. do any blood tests? I don't want to scare you and it's most likely not, but symptoms of leukemia are flu like symptoms but they last a lot longer. I am not sure about the tingling in your leg. I would look up leukemia if I were you just to rule it out. Hope you feel better. Just for the record I had a cold and bronchitis for 4 weeks during Sept. and had started a new job. i thought i would never get over it. I still cough up flem some and it's been since then."
