Help with medication!! I'm freaking out! Anxiety attack? Depression meds? please help me! my meds were changed from 300mg Wellbutrin to 150mg and 60mg Cymbalta. This is the first day i've started with cymbalta. Now i am freaking out and i don't know what else to do. My mom ended up giving me two klonopin the help calm me down because it might be an anxiety attack (runs in the family). It's been about 15 min since i took the second one, and i'm still strung up. I can't concentrate when there are a lot of people talking, i'm shaky/twich, i have this feeling of extreme excitement without the happy part (i guess you could say panic...but it doesn't seem like that). i have a headache and my neck, back, and shoulders are tense. i feel so drugged up right now its hard to even type this. i have several minutes when it feels like an out of body experience...(i'm there and i can see everyone but it feels like i'm standing ten feet behind my eyes...if that makes sense. kinda like i'm gonna pass out but there is no ringing ears or sweating like usual.) i keep laughing uncontrolably about nothing! this is so freaking annoying! Is it withdrawal symptoms from lowering Wellbutrin, is it starting Cymbalta straight off at 60mg, is it an anxiety attack, or could it possibly be a manic/hypomania episode? (There is some bipolar in my family) My mom's calling my psychiatrist tomorrow, but what do i do right now.? 0.o```~~~whoa, now i feel loopy any suggestions on what i can do until tomorrow? Thank you all in advance

Gabe replied: "Cymbalta gives energy to the individual so thats probably why you're feeling "loopy". Are you overweight? that might be why its that high. Or he might feel you need a strong med. i started at 60mg and had that excitement as well. nothin u can do. try exercising maybe."

brendie replied: "hunny...if you wrote all this...you're doing okay...relax."

H H replied: "Cymbalta can definitely trigger episodes of mania if you are prone to them. It sounds like it's probably what you're experiencing. There isn't much you can do about it other than keeping yourself busy until you can talk to your psychiatrist. Just don't overdo the Klonopin or anything else trying to calm yourself down."

illusion1230 replied: "could be a panic attack but i think its far more likely that you are having an adverse reaction to the new meds. i would call yer doc tomorrow morning but if you just cant wait you can call today and see if the doc can be paged or something."

sharkfins14 replied: "Have your doctor ween you off these meds....a lowdose zoloft is all you might need. and don't take any other meds(like the one your mom gave you) they can mix with your other ones and give you bad side effects. You may feel better....without any of that crap. The doctors had me drugged up for a fewmonths and I got off of them and feel like a new person. Sometimes the depression tries to come back and I get busy doing anything.....to keep busy. I figured...some little pill isn't going to make me happy....I'M GOING TO MAKE ME HAPPY! and I can do that if I'm in a fog...... If your Dr.isnot helping you....switch to someone else..... just beacuse they are a Dr. doesn't mean they know what they are doing or whats best for you. ONLY YOU....knows what is best for you. GOOD LUCK"

New to this. But would love any feedback please!!? Been on paxil for about 7 yrs., quit working, and doctor switched me to Cymbalta about 11 days ago(60 mg) I cannot seem to get beyond the extreme dizziness, nausea, and ringing in my ears for most of the day after taking . I feel he has put me on too strong a level of Cymbalta, and am going to see him tomorrow, as I cannot, function, drive, or cope, as I'm so dizzy and zinged out. Feel original side effects should have passed mostly by now. Anyone similar ?? Help please

Simone replied: "Side effects from this kind of medication can last 2-3 weeks while your body adjusts. It's good that you're seeing your doctor tomorrow. Together you can decide whether it's worth waiting a couple of weeks for the side effects to pass."

dawnO replied: "At least you know what it is and it should pass. Yes its a good thing to go to your Dr!I had the same problems with Lexapro at first, but now I am fine."

Shane M replied: "Tried Paxil (the work of Lucifer), tried Cymbalta and the side effects were WAY too severe for me also. To be honest (and your doctor will agree if he or she is honest as well), doctors don't even know how these meds work. That's why they keep trying different ones in different doses and different combinations until they find one that works for you. Sounds like a dangerous game to me, but I'm not a physician, just a victim like you. I am currently on a combination of Wellbutrin and Depakote, and it has worked well for me. Maybe they just hit my combination. It may work for you, it may not, but from what you have described I would definitely try something else."

Dawn replied: "When I went off Paxil (demon drug) I experienced vertigo and the zaps and flu like symptoms. This was even with tapering off gradually. So, part of your problems might be with the flushing of Paxil out of your system. Never been on Cymbalta so can't help there... Be real careful about driving or getting on ladders, etc for awhile until your equiliberium is restored..."

Gard23 replied: "This could be Paxil withdrawal that is not being 'masked' by the introduction of Cymbalta. It reads like a possibility - and Paxil / withdrawal is a notorious combination. Withdrawal list below: note the similarity of your symptoms. Paxil withdrawal usually starts on day 2-3 after a dose drop, due to the half-life of the drug - that timing seems to fit with your post. If it is Paxil withdrawal, then switching back to Paxil may deal with the immediate problems. However that would be a consideration to be thoroughly discussed with your doctor. The problem of Paxil 'poop out' would remain though. You may find helpful information on the phenomenon over at Paxil Progress, where they have amassed information on withdrawal, and 'poop out'."

Please Help...What is wrong with me? Hello all, I have a few health concerns that are really getting to me lately. I hope you can help. Basically, in mid December, due to many a reason, I developed severe, chronic insomnia. I was literally awake for over 3 weeks solid. Eventually and with great hesitation, I gave in to meds because of how bad my health got. I was hospitalized. Scary stuff. Anywho, even with sleeping pills, my sleep still wasn't as restorative as it should be. Soooo, the doctors prescribed the infamous antidepressant, Effexor ( thinking that the insomnia is the outcome of some inner turmoil such as depression or anxiety). Hard to say really...Not sleeping for that long can mimic the worst of psychiatric disorders...Long story short,, I took effexor since January, and boy did it **** me up. So I was switched to another infamous one, Cymbalta. And again the side effects were intolerable. All the while takin sleeping pills and anti psychotics (for their apparent off label help with insomnia). Throughout the course of the meds or for all i know, the ridiculously long period of sleepless nights, I developed a horrible pressure, tightness around my head, tinnitus in my right ear, and flashes and floaters in my eyes. Approximately 2 months ago, I had enough, and against doctors orders, I started lowering the dosage of Effexor ( which i was put back on because the cymbalta effects were abit worse)...I was able to somehow get my sleep back too (after getting off that horrible stuff). Which brings us to now... I am med free..Sleeping fine...Appetite back...Sexual desire back...Thinking is clear, coherant and cohesive...HOWEVER, its been 2 months of me sleeping again and not taking medication, and am still having that relentless, crushing, vice like feeling around my head 24/7...The ringing in my right ear is still louder than ever...And the flashes/ floaters in front of my eyes have not subsided...On top, I'm experiencing some weird "i don't feel real" feelings too.Been to every which doctor and am not getting an answer I'm satisfied with. Could this be withdrawal from the meds, or some permanent damage from the long nights of sleeplessness or something else altogether..Had medical tests (blood work and MRI) 4 months ago. Everything ok...I don't know whts goin on....My quality of life is greatly diminished, and I am growing increasingly desperate...Any help or insight is greatly appreciated....Sorry for the length of the post....

boomaus replied: "Well, if you're having the "fast head/slow brain" effect... (When you move your head one way or another and it feels like the brain is barely catching up) that's still the meds getting out of your system. However, after 2 months i would think that it would've already been out. People are different when it comes to things like that- BMI, weight, etc..many factors in this. I would say that it's still side effects of the meds, but if it continues then you need to check with a neurologist."

Notorious LJo replied: "You aren't going to find the help you need on Yahoo Answers, most people on here are kids on summer vacation, not doctors or educated people, because they are at work. I suggest you go back to a doctor and keep trying until you get the help you need, even if it means 100 doctors."

shavelle05 replied: "Okay you need some help. Sorry but you do. But you cant go on through life like this. You need to start finding things in life that make you happy. Do something different. Keep your mind off of other things. Really I would not want to go through life like this. Your the only one that can change you. Meds just make you more loopy."

Liz replied: "Eko,are you a man or woman?I could not see your avatar picture. If you are a woman your symptoms are probably due to a hormone imbalance.I have floaters, ringing in the ear,had the insomnia-all due to early perimenopause.Go to Power surge menopause message boards and you will find a wealth of info.If you are male I would suggest that the symptoms are left over side effects of the ADs.I took Paxil for only one week and was sick for two months. That stuff is prescribed poison.GOD-bless"

lexi8998 replied: "first of all, I wouldn't necessarily look at it as a group of symptoms that indicate a specific problem (I think this is a natural tendency). I am not a dr. but have dealt with all the shi**y medications and there side effects that you are talking about. The floaters may be a result of the antidepressants-or past drug use (if there was any-not assuming, no offense)-and they can just happen. Tinnitus can be caused by many different things from being exposed to too much noise to thyroid issues, whiplash, aspirin poisoning, you name it, and the tightness around your head-I have heard and experienced as a withdrawal from benzos, but I wonder if you have some sort of inner ear problem and are feeling pressure from that in your head. If I had to bet i guess I would go with that one-go to a specialist and see what they think about that. Also, be aware that anxiety can cause a whole list of symptoms including the ones you listed. People experience anxiety differently. Anyway, hang in there. If these are side effects from the medication you took it can take months for it to go away, and the experience of being blown off by dr.s can be extrememly frustrating. Finding a dr. that listens to their patients can be difficult but you know your body better than anyone and I hope you find someone that can help. When you see one be direct and don't take no for an answer-if your symptoms are severe enought that they are interfering with your life or sanity they definitely deserve attention!! Best of luck to you and sorry about your frustration."

WHAT is WRONG with DOCTORS!? Last week I called in for a refill on my pain meds. The pharmacy faxed them but he was not available until Wed of this week. I call the pharmacy and they had not heard, I called Dr. Willy's Office several times. No one else will write s for him when he is not there that's just LUDICROUS!!. Today he claims there is 3 refills, the pharmacy says there is NOT. They have put between them in this demented game of ping pong and have been doing so since Friday of last week! Dr. Willy claims he handed me a hand writ which some one else witnessed me handing to the pharmacist, the pharmacist denies this. I called Williams office back well over an hour ago 230 PM and he is "not going to reissue the pre ion". I have been around and around with them over this all day. I suffer chronic pain and have a well documented history of this. I fought for years and years.. around 15 years to avoid having or taking things like lortab, on October 26 of 2006 I had a mental break down at work from the pain. This was set off by a hostile employer expecting more than I could handle when I was already agitated and YES they were aware. Here nor there. I still refused taking anything for pain until this last year. The lortab is the only thing keeping a gun out of my mouth and he is aware of this and is playing GOD. plain and simple. I am switching to an actual pain doctor as soon as possible, but its inexcusable for him to ignore this. I am suffering and he knows this. We tried other drugs, cymbalta, nuerontin (treat pain with antidepressants and anti-siezure drugs?! HEY I played along but JEEEEZ!) And all they did was make me nauseous, give me vertigo, tremors and now I have this "brain buzzing" a ringing inside my head not my ears. That is a side effect of Cymbalta he WAS aware of and did not tell me about! Lortab is the only thing working with no horrendous side effects! HE ALSO KNOWS THIS! Maybe he thinks he is doing some right by me but as of now I am suicidal with pain. HE ALSO KNOWS THIS. For years he's been an excellent doctor, I have been seeing him since Dr. Mickey retired about 15 years ago. But something has gone wrong with him and its recent. AS I have said, I argued with him over pain meds for years and now that I do need them, he is playing GOD. IS HE SENILE? HE is almost 70 if you have something idiotic to say about typos or some other counter productive stupid comment...don't bother.

heather b replied: "This happens to me all the time. And if you complain about it too much, they think you are a drug addict.lol. you really can't win between doctors and pharmacies. You should get into a pain management facility so they will take care of you.Unlike general care practitioners, they specialize in pain.I have chronic pain also and I completely understand your situation.I sympathize, really. I wish people understood that some people actually are always in severe pain. I hate that because all these damn teens and druggies abuse medication, doctors stopped believing those of us who actually need meds to keep from giving up.You know what i mean.I hope everything works out for you and good luck.Feel free to email me if you need to vent to someone."

Mary G replied: "I know exactly what you mean! I have gone back and forth with this pharmacy to doctor thing ever since I got on pain meds. They get really paranoid if they think you are abusing the medication. Both professions LOVE to play GOD. It got to the point that this RX problem was causing me more anxiety and pain than all my other conditions combined! If I was having a problem like your refill situation that you are going through I would tell the pharmacy to call my doctor and they can figure it out! good luck, I truly feel for you"

Golden Boy replied: "go to the ER for now and get some, then try and get into a pain management program. or switch doctors all together."

Intuitivechick replied: "Get another doctor; I have gone through the same thing with pain meds and with others. Yes, they do play god. It's disgusting."

mccrackan replied: "You didn't say what kept you from sleeping. If it's the ringing in your ear & squeezing sensation in your head, it could be an inner-ear problem. It could also be a brain tumor. Either way, you should talk to an otolaryngologist and/or get brain imaging."

Gard23 replied: "The head pressure, tinnitus and floaters will be familiar to those who had them as side-effects/withdrawal effects with the SSRIs/SNRIs. Yes, there are those who experienced the tinnitus in just one ear. You may find more references to the head pressure/tightness with regard to withdrawal experiences; perhaps have a google of 'Paxil Progress' and search their forums - you will find de ions of others' head tightness experiences. Depersonalisation/derealisation effects are listed withdrawal effects... these, anecdotally, do seem to have the capacity to make a later appearance than some of the other withdrawal effects, so you may have noticed a bit of a time lag before these began to show up? If you had a bad reaction to the pre ions, then you may find the body can take quite a while to recover. Have you perhaps also noticed any of the following: - digestive issues (e.g. bloating, nausea, heightened gag response, variable stools, more 'gas' production) - hypersensitivity to sound/light/smell - fatigue You might find some of the following tips of interest (note the reference to 'muscle tightness'):"

My 2 main complaints are floaters in my field of vision, which are 24/7 and secondly my cognitive functions. I have developed extreme fatigue and the pressure in the head ... like your describing. There is a a lot of grey area concerning these types of drugs. All I am going to do is wait it out ... exercise and diet help. Let me know if you find anything."

Have a few good swigs in the morning, take a hip flask with you when you go out, or go to school or work, and then get stuck into the booze in the late afternoon. It really gives you a good nights sleep and when you wake up feeling a bit fuzzy the next morning a few good swigs will set you up for another good stress free day. I have a great part time job at a local book store and the management have no idea Im half pissed all the time, I got employee of the month for the last two months and I am leading part time sales by heaps this month. It certainly makes the time go quick and adds a lot of fun to the day."

Alex62 replied: "Some practical answers... Tinitius happens. It can be both ears or one. Sound is different for different ppl. Volume isn't always constant. There isn't anything that can be done. You eventually learn to tune it out. I have it both. It bugs me sometimes. Usually, I no longer notice it. Floaters happen. See an opthamologist. Sometimes they go away on their own. Sometimes they are an issue. Something can be done if they are significant. Vice grip may well be stress and/or anxiety. Try getting more exercise, maybe joining a gym with a jacuzzi or sauna. Massage therapy would probably be a good idea. I'm not saying these are your problems, but they are the obvious answers. Try the straightforward solutions, and not overly focusing on them. Hyperfocus can affect the quality of life more than actual health problems. Btw, the advice is courtesy of someone with bipolar, seizure disorder, and migraines. I know that not feeling right doesn't feel good. I also know that focusing on it doesn't helps."

Please Help...What is wrong with me?

Margie W replied: "Please dont worry, sounds like a neurological disturbance. Talk to a neurolgists office and they can advise when or if to come in. Most of these are fixed with small amount of meds. Doctors can not treat the symptoms correctly UNLESS THEY KNOW THE SOURSE OF THE PROBLEM. Total logic. These docs had me on 72 meds a day when all I needed is to be put on Zoloft, No more problems."
