Unexplained Infertility and first round of Clomid? I am starting my first round of clomid and I was wondering how many of you took clomid for "unexplained infertility" and conceived the first month using Clomid?

Peanut's mommy (Due Sept 14) replied: "I took Clomid for PCOS, I conceived the 1st month on it... then I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks due to my progesterone dropping and low HCG levels. I took it for 6 more cycles and it never worked again. Some women it works great for and some women it just doesn't. Good luck! Baby dust!"

Does anyone know the success rate of infertility treated with clomid+metformin? I have been ttc with pcos for over 19 months. I have been taking metformin, and now my dr is going to start me on clomid also. Do any of you know the success rate of clomid? Also how likely are you to have twins or higher?

paperrose223 replied: "one of my good friends took both and now has a healthy baby girl. she only took them for three cycles and was able to get pregnant.before taking them she was not ovulating at all. Hope this helps and good luck."

father2twins replied: "It got us twins. Good Luck."

punkmush replied: "me and my hubby are a success story :) I'm on metformin and was placed on clomid and now we're 15 weeks preggers. I asked my doctors about the twins and she told me that the rate isn't as high as you think but the chances are increased. Unfortunately and thankfully we're blessed with the one :) Good luck tho hun! :)"

Have you taken the infertility drug Clomid, and did you get pregnant; how long did it take? Did you get pregnant the first time? If not how many times did it take? Did you have side effects? Did you have any problems with it at all?

OCMama05 replied: "I was on Clomid @ 50 mg on days 5-9 to induce ovulation in conjunction with Provera to induce my period. After the first cycle of Clomid, I got pregnant and miscarried at 5 weeks. After the second cycle of Clomid, I am now 11 weeks pregnant and all is well. I had no side effects and no problems at all. Good Luck and lots of baby dust to you!"

Ashley replied: "I am on my first round of Clomid this month. I already ovulate but my dr put me on it to better mature follices and thicken my lining.. I just took 50mg and let me tell you everyone is different. But i had the WORST hot flashes. Like crazy!!! And I have never been so mean in my life!! Like major road rage, and hanging up on people......lol. My poor husband, I just keep reminding him to deal with me, because it will be so worth it. I took mine at night right before i went to bed along with my prenatel vitamins just so that I would experience most of the side effects while i was sleeping. I did wake up every night sweating. I finished the pill friday night, and just like right now, i guess because i am talking about it I am having a sweet little hot flash. I am assuming that those will stay with me until I conceive or have miss af. As far as the side effects I go I wouldnt call them a problem. I hope I can be apart of the "got pregnant with Clomid club" by christmas eve. We'll see :) Good luck to you and mr. clomid. I think the benefits out way the risk and side effects"

Jen replied: "Hello, I have taken it, but it didn't work for me... I took it for 2 months with my regualar OB/GYN, then for one month with a double dose at the infertility clinic and it didn't work... BUT that is my story! We have friends who took the LOWEST dose, she was 38, her first cycle on it they got pregnant... with TRIPLETS! (This is extremely rare, but it does happen!) They say if you don't get pregnant within the first 3 months you are very unlikely too with this drug. If I remember correctly, it has been 5 years now, I didn't have any bad side effects, if anything a little moodyness, like getting your period, and some bloating, but very mild. I also know two other women who took it and got pregnant on the first try :o) For sure it is a good option to start with! It does work for some ladies! It didn't for myself, but then through IVF I have a 5 y.o. and 3 y.o. twins... and then with the help of the "wonder" drug, Metformin, I am not 19 weeks with baby #4, concieved all by ourselves! What an accomplishment! Good luck!!! I hope you will see your positive test soon!"

baby#1 hopes replied: "Well, I am starting it on my coming up cycle but I done lots of research and talked to lots of people about it before I decided to start it!!! After lots of research, I found out that it is the lightest fertility pill you can take and the chance of multiples is very low. Also there are minimal side effects compared from the other pills. It took me about a year to finally decide that I wanted to take it. Good Luck in your decision and baby dust!!!"

rclowdis replied: "TTC for over a year and getting ready to start my 3rd month of clomid. The side effects for me are minimal. I have had very few hot flashes. I wake up at night sweating (not every night)and thats really it. My husband hasn't noticed any moodiness. I think the benefits out way the risk. I am hoping for a BFP this month or next otherwise I go back to the doctor and do some more in depth testing :(. Good luck and lots of baby dust!!"

groups who help with clomid and infertility? hi all after months of TTc and infertility clinic and tests etc we have been given clomid today, i was wondering if there was any groups that could help/support me while i am going through this treatment as i am new to it all and its all a little over whelming with information would be grateful for any links Thanks

Optomistic replied: "I don't know of any specific groups but on this TTC questions is a pretty good tool that I use, I also use ovulation calendars and pregnology.com, or fertilityfriend.com, websites like that are very usefull too and they always have threads or posts with good info and help with doubts. Good luck!"

Ash replied: "Hi, I am on my 3rd round this month!! I dont know what your history is but i have pcos. I dont ovulate and my hormones are no where near balanced or where they need to be!! I started taking metformin in may i take 1500mg a night and started my frist round of clomid about 3 weeks or so after that! I started off taking 50mg and now my 3rd month i am at 150mg. I am now ovulating and my hormones are getting to where they need to be~ Now that stuff tends to dry me out so i have heard that PRESEED is a lub it works wonders and works really well with clomid. It doesn't kill sperm and it helps them travel and live longer and further!! this is the first month i will try it!! I am also on trigger shots and i get my 3rd one on wed! My hubby and I have a good feeling and are praying its our month!! So wish me luck! I send tons of baby dust your way!! I didn't get the hot flashes or anything like that i did dry out more than normal and I had lower back pains but i think its all pretty normal according to my doctor... I go to visit him about every 2 weeks or week and a half to just check up take blood work and all... Make sure your being monitored by a doctor because it can cause your ovaries to enlarge and they recomend that you only do 6 months at a time no more than that without a break, also if that doesnt work i have heard of a med call Femara!! I have had many friends get pregnant off of that as well! good luck!! if you ever need anything email me or something ill add you to my contacts!! I dont know all that much of course i am still learning but i know alot more than i did before. best of luck to you!! 16.50 for preseed i advise you to try and get some off line if you google it they come up i got it in the mail within a week and it was only 16.50!! It works awesome good luck!!"

I am taking infertility Clomid, will anyone get pregnant without clomid? I have been try to get pregnant for 4 years, no luck til I found out I was infertility, my doctor been give me clomid and keep go increase til I am 300 mg sucess got ovaluating. So anyone have expirence being late period, got pregnant without Clomid?

Shawna C replied: "my ex mother in law did before clomid was on the market lol. She tried for 5 years dr's told her she was barron- then one day wound up prego and now has 10 kids"

Luvverly replied: "I took Clomid but it did not result in ovulation. The highest dose I was prescribed was 250 mg. I have yet to become pregnant myself but hope the latest drug I'm on will result in a pregnancy. Keep your hopes up, eat healthful meals, exercise and get your rest. If you don't successfully conceive on Clomid there may be another drug or procedure(s) better suited to your fertility problem. You may wish to discuss with your doctor more detailed tests to help reveal why you haven't conceived thus far -- hormonal and cycle monitoring along with a tubal dye test. Good luck!"

Kymr replied: "lots of people get pregnant without clomid. did you know these drugs increase your chances of multiples?"

waiting for baby replied: "I have 3 children without clomid & 3 misc without clomid but now I am taking clomid I have not been successful yet noted that I am only in my 2 cycle I am hoping this will be my last time taking clomid Goodluck"

quirky replied: "FYI, Clomid made me feel Crazy with a capital "C". Be careful and tell your partner/mom/sister to watch for signs with you- because you can feel really disoriented and depressed very quickly on that stuff. I have never in my life felt that way except when I took Clomid, and it was scary. On the other hand, I got pregnant on it right away- within one month of starting it. I would not take it again based on how it made me feel, practically psychotic- my Dc said she will prescribe something different next time around..."

Taking clomid? Unexplained infertility? Help? I have just been told all my tests(bloods, scans and hcg test)are fine my husbands tests were great for infertility i have been ttc for 5yrs without success we already have one child.Any how the doctor told me i could try clomid/iui and clomid and my chances would be higher because of my age, having a child and having no problems?I was just wondering do you think i would have more of a chance has anyone been through this same thing and gotten pregnant any experiences please i'm stuck ? Thank you in advance.

Tina replied: "Unexplained infertility is the worst! Sometimes you just wish that they could find something wrong so that they could fix it! The Clomid will potentially do a few things - help to elevate your progesterone levels which will lead to a better uterine lining for implanation, better timed stronger ovulation, help to mature the follicles better and possibly cause you to ovulate more than one egg increasing your chances for success but also increasing your chances for twins. We were there - ttc our first, unexplained infertility. We tried Clomid, then 3 cycles of Clomid with IUI - unfortunately, it did not work for us. We then tried injectibles and IUI for 3 rounds - also did not work for us. My RE was surprised, he felt that these treatments would have solved our issue. At that point, we went onto IVF and now have twins - they turned 10 months yesterday. It was a long road but absolutely worth it. Good luck and loads of baby dust to you!"

does clomid [infertility drug] also brings your period back? i dont get my period, i need it to get pregnant... so do i need a special pill for my cycle then clomid or does clomid take care of it all

rurouni replied: "Well, usually what they do is they give you progesterone to induce your period, and then once you get your period, they have you take the Clomid on certain days (like day 3-7, with day 1 being the first day of your period). If it doesn't work, you might get your period at the end of the month. If it does work, you'll be pregnant."

Clomidround 32WW BABY DUST replied: "clomid do not start ur period it helps u to ovulate . but dr's would probably give u something like provera to jump start ur period. it if they say u need clomid they will give it to u. now just because ur on clomid do not mean ur going to get ur period, because if u don't ovulate on it sometimes u won't get it. that's what happen to me on my first round back in Nov. so just talk with ur dr and they will let u know every ything and where to go from there. good luck"

jayegee replied: "you need a pill to start your period off and then you start clomid which will start off your ovulation. Good Luck with it. . . I got preggers of my first cycle of tablets - i know i was lucky but it just goes to prove its possible. We had been trying years!"

Can being treated for infertility (Clomid to be exact) increase ur chance of having a "chemical pregnancy"? My hubby and I are TTC and my OB was treating me for infertility last month (Nov 08) was my first time using Clomid, didnt think it would work first time around but it did, I got a + HPT and a + Blood test on the 17th of Dec. However I started bleeding on xmas eve and now realize after research that I had a "chemical Pregnancy/miscarriage". My hubby n I wanted 2 start TTC hopefully next month assuming I have a reg period...my question is can be treated for infertility (taking meds) increase my chances of another chemical preg or possible miscarriage again?? in addition, sorry...I know it was a chemical preg/miscarriage bcuz I went in to ECC yesterday and my urine test was - and so was the blood test, my hcg levels were now less than 2... So in response to one my one answer I received, is it safe to say that this would be considered a period and should I ovulate after and that I should be able to start TTC right away?? THank you!

Julie replied: "I'm sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy. I suffered 2 miscarriages and at least one chemical pregnancy while TTC. I did end up with 3 healthy children though. Taking clomid won't increase your chances for this type of thing. However, women who are actively TTC are often testing for pregnancy much earlier than other women so we discover these chemical pregnancies where many other women may have just thought that their period was a week late. It's actually a fact that about 50% of all conceptions never implant and end up in a chemical pregnancy. It's just that most of them are never recognized. Good luck to you - you still have a great chance of having a successful pregnancy and it appears that the clomid did work for you which is great!"
