Tramadol overdose potential? I've taken 4 325 mg pills of tramadol trying to get a similar high that vicodin gives me. I'm thinking about taking 1 or 2 more because I'm starting to feel it. Is that dangerous? I don't want to overdose. I'm drinking beers with it because that helps me get the feeling. Thanks to all who answered. Unfortuneately I've already had 5 beers and 5 pills... I don't really know why i'm doing this honestly. But I need to figure it out obviously. I hope it turns out ok.

Daney replied: "This is an analgesic and it will tell you, or should, on the packaging the safe dosage. That's fine, but then you dropped a bombshell. NEVER mix any medication with alcohol. You might get a high, but sadly you might not come off it the way you want to. It's an incredibly dangerous practice. Pre ion medications and over the counter medications are potentially lethal (I mean DEAD) if they are not taken as per instructions. To mix them with alcohol can cause some terrible complications. Please don't so this."

AbeLincolnParty replied: "tramadol can cause seizures if too many are taken too often. As a "narcotic" it really barely meets the definition. It binds the the narcotic mu receptor at less than 1/100 the capacity of morphine and it acts more like prozac than a pain reliever. Drinking alcohol increases the seizure risks of tramadol. I don't advocate drug abuse but this abuse of tramadol has more to do with marketing than with actual properties "worthy" of abuse."

Tramadol overdose in dogs? My dog got hit by a car a few days ago. Now, shes taking medicine called Tramadol. My mom has given her about three times the recommended dose on accident. What should we do? and what the side effects? The vet is closed.

how many tramadol " ultracet " would be considered an overdose. or atleast a lethal overdose? tramadol apap 37.5 / 325 , i would just like to know what would be fatal or atleast very dangerous. my friend told me he had took 6 of them. is that fatal? and also what are the ingredients in it. and what are they? do not tell me to call poision control also. this was already passed. and happened. i dont know what happened to him yet cause i havent talked to him since then. just answer what i asked and do not tell me to call anyone

ShanusAran replied: "Well ive heard varying stories, ive heard anywhere between 150-500 can have dangerous side affects from seizures to death, depending on the weight and other health factors in the person. You should never take more then the doctor recommends just to be safe, especially if you dont know what your doing with pills"

roscoedeadbeat replied: "A tramadol overdose can be fatal. Overdose symptoms may include drowsiness, shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, extreme weakness, cold or clammy skin, feeling light-headed, fainting, or coma."

tri2bSane1 replied: "max dose for tramadol is 400 mg per day, for adults over the age of 17; Ultracet is tramadol w/ acetaminophen, so consider ovedose on both; Most people take a much lower amount than this, usually no more than 200 mg per day. In children, <17 yrs overdose amounts can be much lower; it is poss 2 die from OD of it; signs/symptoms: slow, shallow or complete stopping of breathing, extreme lethargy (tiredness, inability to stay awake), seizures, heart attack and coma; LOOK 4: pinpoint pupils, bluish tinge to the skin, clammy skin, irregular heartbeat, & nausea/vomiting; U c any of these, save ur friend & immediately call 911."

Mathieu replied: "Ultracet is 37.5 mg of Tramadol, a mild narcotic, and 325 of acetaminophen. The acetaminophen in Ultracet is considered an overdose at over 1,000 mg at one time or more than 4,000 mg/day. Doses higher can cause hepatic toxicity. Taking slightly more is rarely a problem if it happens once but tens of thousands have major medical complications from Acetaminophen toxicity and many die. The Tramadol in the Ultracet has a maximum dose of 100 mg up to four times daily. For some even slightly higher doses can cause massive seizure and rarely serotonin syndrome, especially if taken with stimulants or antidepressants. And seizure is the biggest risk from Tramadol. But 6 Ultracet is unlikely to cause massive problems from the Tramadol (37.5 mg per tab). Basically your friend has taken double the max dose of Tramadol and acetaminophen. It would be unlikely for major problems to happen if this has NEVER happened. But the Seizure risk is real. And if your friend has epilepsy then a hospital might be considered."

I don't know how old you are, but if you truly care for your friend, you'll tell someone, even if they get mad at you. Personally, I would rather have a friend hate me and be going to therapy than dead."

Joy S replied: "Since you have so carefully listed all the meds and doses I assume you have the access to them. I am concerned that you might be saying that this is your "friend" but is really you. I am not a Physician or a Pharmacist so I cannot tell you for sure if it would kill anyone. I think it is most likely that they would just vomit. I do think that, however, with alcohol, it could be very dangerous. Enough alcohol alone can kill a person (alcohol poisening). If you really want to know if it could kill them I suggest you call your local poisen control. Either way, you or he/she need to get help immediately! Call the local crisis line or if you don't know the number, call 1-800-SUICIDE and they will connect you with your closest hotline. They then can help set her/him up with a therapist or hospital or Psychiatrist ASAP! Forgive my suspiscions if I am wrong and thank you for helping your friend."

I obviously did not die, but I did end up in intensive care for 4-5 days then the psych ward for another week after that. I do not think that your list of pills would end a life, but a doctor/pharmacist would be the better person to ask."

How much till its fatal? (Tramadol and Skelaxin)? My roomate has been acting depressed and weird the last few days and now some of my meds are missing. Overdosed on Tramadol? So a while back i took 3 tramadol 50 mgs i think they were and they werent mine and i know it was stupid and beleive me never doin it again. Anyways after like 30 mins i started breathing really shallow and i couldnt hardly breathe and was suuuuper dizzy. I couldnt walk and i was so tired i kept drifting off but id wake up out of breath because i stopped breathing when i fell asleep and my breathing was so shallowed and slow and i felt like i was just fading into the darkness and stopping breathing. faith replied: "The usual dose for age 16 and over is 25-100 milligrams every 4-6 hours not to exceed 400 milligrams in 24 hours. Symptoms of overdose include breathing difficulties and seizure. If you experienced breathing difficulties with 150 milligrams of tramadol (Ultracet) and you did not take any other medication and you were not drinking then you may be very sensitive to this type of medication. Never take someone else's medication. Your doctor knows your medical history and takes this into account before prescribing you a medication. A medication that has little effect on someone else may well make you very ill."
